The Music Box broadcasts Monday through to Friday between 1pm and 4pm.
The show is hosted by Mike Jackson on a Wednesday and Friday, Chris Hammond on a Thursday with Ian Gilligan taking the Monday show and finaly Steven Broadbent with the Tuesday slot.
All shows feature a broad array of music from the 60's to current chart material.
Chris Hammonds show 'Pinky and the Brain'
Through out the show we include humorous banter in addition to the great selection of music. We aim to play all generations of music, from the 50’s to the present day. We have a couple of competitions currently running one of which is called ‘Connect 4’ (4 songs that have something in common).
Anytime throughout the show you can give me a call for a request. whatever you want to hear let me know and I'll do my best to play it.
Chris is also aided by his 'show producer', the man they call Pinky (trust me… don’t ask!) who creeps around the studio on a Thursday Afternoon – usually in the company of ‘The Brain’.
At 3pm Pinky chooses 3 songs – which is called ‘Pinky’s 3 at 3’ and includes 3 songs from the same artist.
Mike's show includes some of the best music from the decades, and features regular competitions and features such as 'Under The Covers', where listeners have to phone in with the original artist to a played cover version of a particular song. Other competitions include 'Worlds Worst Karaoke', a karaoke version (instumental) track is played from the 'Worlds Worst Karaoke Album' and the phone lines are opened for listeners to call in with what they think the song is.
Mike also has the 'Identity Game' where he gives a brief description of a famous person and you have to call in with who you think he is describing.
